Inundo Development operates across two interconnected landscapes that reflect our approach to sustainable development.
Restoration rooted in the soil, learning shaped in community, and impact that flows outward...
Together, Inundo Rise Egqumeni and Inundo Riverside Esigodini form a single learning ecosystem where what is cultivated on the hill is gathered, shared, and multiplied in the valley.
Inundo Rise Egqumeni at 19 Cadmoor Road, Assagay/ Hillcrest, KZN
Inundo Rise Egqumeni is our upper property, named using the isiZulu word egqumeni, meaning “on the hill.” This site represents elevation, perspective, and foundations, a place where vision is shaped and principles are grounded in practice.
Situated on the rise, Inundo Rise Egqumeni is home to our mixed vegetable demonstration garden and maize field crop area. Named the Isiqalo Gardens, these gardens are where Inundo began. The Isiqalo Gardens model regenerative agriculture, soil restoration, and responsible land stewardship in ways that can be observed, tested, and learned from over time.
At the highest point of the property lies Obonjeni Ridge. Named from the isiZulu word ubombo, meaning “ridge,” this area is planted with orchards and perennial systems that demonstrate patient cultivation and long-term fruitfulness. Obonjeni Ridge embodies Inundo’s commitment to sustainability that looks beyond immediate yield toward enduring impact.
Inundo Rise Egqumeni is where learning begins through careful observation, hands-on practice, and attention to the foundations that support lasting change.
Inundo Riverside Esigodini at 10 Cadmoor Road, Assagay/ Hillcrest, KZN
Inundo Riverside Esigodini is our lower property, located along the Madwala River. The name esigodini means “in the valley,” a place traditionally associated with gathering, nurture, and growth. This site represents movement, exchange, and the sharing of knowledge.
Inundo Riverside Esigodini is the location of the new training hub, the Inkaba Green Hub. Inkaba refers to a central point signifying one’s roots or place of origin. The Hub’s purpose is be an origin point for transformation. The Inkaba Hub hosts training programmes, workshops, and leadership formation, providing space for dialogue and shared learning. Farmers, community leaders, and development practitioners gather here to learn together, reflect on practice, and build skills that can be applied within their own contexts.
Also located at Inundo Riverside Esigodini is the Intuthuko Office. Named from the isiZulu word intuthuko, meaning “development” or “progress,” this office is the organizational heart of Inundo, coordinating strategy, partnerships, and programme implementation. There is a beautiful rose garden in front of the office and some grassed terraced areas with a small staff building and laundry.
Finally the Ingomuso Field is the site of the gardens of tomorrow. Ingomuso means Tomorrow or Future.
One Integrated Landscape
Inundo Rise Egqumeni and Inundo Riverside Esigodini operate as one integrated system. What is demonstrated and cultivated on the hill informs what is taught and shared in the valley. Learning flows from practice, and practice is strengthened through shared reflection.
Together, these two sites express Inundo’s conviction that lasting development emerges when people, land, and knowledge are formed together with care, humility, and purpose.
